UPDATE 25.08.2026

After over 20 years of practicing architecture in Ryedale - the last 10 of which have been as a sole trader trading as Patrick Cuddy Architect, or PCA for short - and over 35 years in the construction industry it's time to, well, call time on being an architect.  As of the end of this year I will no longer be practising and until then I will only be tidying any loose ends on existing projects.  So, I must extend a big thank you to all those I have worked with and for over the years, be that employers, business partners, colleagues, builders, many many fellow professional consultants and of course all the clients.  I must say a special thank you for those people who have encouraged me along the way.

It has been quite a journey since walking into the Birmingham School of Architecture in what was then Birmingham Polytechnic in October 1986 and my proudest moment was achieving registered and then chartered status some 12 years later.  I have worked in many sectors and on many projects and I don't really have any favourites - I just hope I've made a positive contribution to them all - but one project that does stick out is the All Bar One on Greek Street in Leeds which I saw through from planning drawings to the building work.  I was working at Harrison Design Co in Birmingham at the time and it was an enjoyable time for me professionally, although others probably have the opposite view. What makes the project stick out is that on the evening of 11 January 1997 I met a rather nice person on a blind date there and we've now been married almost 26 years, with two fantastic grown-up children.

I've given my website a little refresh for the last few months to display a few of the projects I've been involved with over the years, however there are quite a few of the completed projects missing as I never did quite find the time to go back and photograph them, which is a shame.
